Defaults for every Apple device
Defaults are what every Enrolled iPhone, iPad, and Mac in this organization receives. Assignments you add by group or by device stack on top. This page does not erase them.
When to open thisYou want one Wi-Fi profile, one compliance rule, or one ADE profile to apply to the whole organization, not only one group.
Settings → Apple → Defaults.

Each block
| Block | What the block does |
|---|---|
| ADE enrollment (default) | The setup profile assigned automatically to Apple Business Manager serials that have no profile yet. This is not where you assign a Wi-Fi profile. Manage the ADE profile list on ADE profiles. |
| Configuration profiles | Configuration profiles every Enrolled Apple device receives. Create the profile first on Configuration profiles, then choose it and click Add. |
| Device policies | Screen passcode and operating-system updates for the whole organization. Create them on Device policies. |
| Compliance policies | Rules that score Apple devices. Create them on Compliance policies. Android and Windows do not use these rules. |
At the bottom of the page are two app blocks. The button here is Assign & install, not Add.

A group still has its own defaults (Device groups → Group defaults). A device receives both the organization part and the group part.
Common questions
- If I add a profile here, do existing devices receive it?
- Yes, for Apple devices that are already Enrolled, the next time the device checks in.
- What if I remove it from Defaults?
- The device stops receiving that item from the organization level. If a group still assigns the same thing, the device keeps it.
