Android apps
Android apps live on the same Apps & Books page, on the Android tab. You install them by writing the app onto a policy. You do not grant a license seat.
- 1Managed PlayThis catalog means something once the enterprise is Linked.
- 2 · This tabChoose an appManaged Play app or Private app.
- 3PolicyThe app travels with the policy to the phone.
- 4On the phoneThe phone reports the list when reporting is on.
Open Apps & Books and choose the Android tab. The search box is Search title or package.

Put an app in the catalog
Click Add app.
- Managed Play app — search Google Play.
- Private app — publish a private app for the enterprise. Google keeps the install file. It is not stored on VN-MDM.
- Android policies in this menu opens the policies page.
Tell the phone to install
Select one app. There is no Assign VPP button. If the app is paid, click Purchase / approve in Managed Play first.
Click Install to devices. The dialog adds the app to a policy, then assigns that policy to the whole organization, a group, or selected phones.
The install mode is written on the policy. FORCE_INSTALLED means the phone installs it itself. AVAILABLE only lists the app in Managed Play, and the user taps install. BLOCKED blocks it.
Common questions
- Do the iOS tab and the Android tab share licenses?
- No. The Apps & Books token is only for iPhone and iPad. Android does not count seats such as 5/100.
- Install finished, but the device page does not show the app?
- The policy must have status reporting on. Wait for the phone to report back. Refreshing the list does not invent an app if Google has not sent it.
