ADE profile

This profile decides the setup screens when a company device is turned on for the first time, and it attaches the device to VN-MDM. It is not a Wi-Fi profile or an everyday restriction.

When to use thisADE is connected and you can see serials. You want the device to enroll itself, usually supervised.

Settings → Apple → ADE profiles.

ADE profiles list with one profile named Test, Supervised line
The small Supervised line means a device that receives this profile will be supervised. The Default column is a dash: this profile is not yet the default for unassigned serials.

Create and assign

  1. Click New profile. Give it a name you will recognize, for example by department.

  2. Choose setup screens to skip (Apple Account, Siri, payment, and similar items) if you do not want staff to stop there.

  3. Save. On the profile row, click … then Assign to ADE devices to attach it to serials. You can assign by device group when the serials share a group.

  4. If every serial that has no profile should receive one automatically: set that profile on Defaults, under Auto-assign profile.

Edit changes the profile. Archive removes it from the admin list. A device that already finished setup does not lose management just because you archive; the old profile drops only on the next wipe.

Configuration profiles (Wi-Fi, restrictions) are a different page: Configuration profiles. The ADE profile only covers the device’s first hello.

Common questions

After I assign it, does a device already in use change immediately?
No. The ADE profile applies during Setup Assistant: a new device, or one just wiped.
What is Supervised for?
A supervised device can use extra commands such as rename, wallpaper, and Lost Mode, and the user cannot remove the management profile in the usual way.
